Sands has launched a new support booklet, specifically for grandparents whose eagerly awaited grandchild has died at, or around the time of birth.

This much-needed guide covers essential topics such as: the physical and emotional reactions to grief, dealing with other people’s reactions to the tragic news and the choices available to create mementoes and keepsakes of the baby. It also includes information about how the parents might be feeling, which grandparents many find useful, as well as the importance of the grandparents finding support for themselves.

The booklet also provides practical advice on many important areas such as: registration and the funeral, supporting other children in the family and dealing with the possibility of other family pregnancies or births.
