Raising Awareness

Sands continues to grow reaching more and more people that need our help. The more that we can raise the awareness of Sands and the issues surrounding stillbirth and neonatal death the more people who really need our help we can reach.

There are a number of ways that you can help us continue to raise Sands profile and these are outlined below.

Sharing your story with the media

As Sands continues to develop and grow as an organisation we are increasingly focusing our efforts to ensure that parents, their families, friends and health professionals know that we exist and what services we can offer.

As a result we have this year expanded the Sands press office to ensure that the media can help us spread the message about Sands, the issues surrounding stillbirth and neonatal death and the services and support that we offer.

The media are always looking for real life case studies for their programmes and articles so we'd like to say a huge thank you to all those who, often at very short notice, have made themselves available to tell their stories to journalists.

If you would like to join our media interviewee list then please contact Erica Stewart on 020 7436 7940 or email erica.stewart(at)uk-sands.org and we'll send you out a form to complete.

Please be assured that any information you give us on this form will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Distributing Posters

In order to continue to offer the support that parents, in particular, need and deserve we have embarked on a programme of revising and introducing a range of new support leaflets and posters.

A new Sands support poster, 'Not every pregnancy ends happily', is available highlighting the work that Sands does to support bereaved parents and help raise awareness of Sands in general. We must thank Sarah and Martin Speake for allowing us to use their poignant and powerful photograph with Amélie for our poster.

If you would like to help us raise awareness of Sands and would be willing to distribute our latest poster to your local GP Surgery for example, then please contact Marion on marion.currie(at)uk-sands.org or 0845 6520 445 for further information.

There will be a charge for post and packing.
