About the Triathlon

The triathlete's favourite

The Nokia Royal Windsor Triathlon was awarded the BTA's 'Event of the Year' at the 2006 Annual Awards Dinner for a remarkable seventh year. These awards, voted for by the British Triathlon Association's members, place the event as without equal in Great Britain: it has claimed six BTA awards in the last seven years, including scooping the double of BTA Event of the Year as well as the inaugural 220 Triathlon Magazine award for Race of the Year in 2004.

No other event in the world can compare with the historical backdrop of Windsor Castle, Eton College and the majestic River Thames. The river swim is followed by a bike course that takes in a number of villages around beautiful Berkshire and returns through Windsor Great Park. The multi-lap run course winds around the Great Castle, over Eton Bridge and along Eton High Street, passing famous Eton College. The event takes in 900 years of British history.

Joining our Team

By joining our team and choosing to support Sands you pledge to raise money for us. There is no minimum amount for this event, we just ask that you raise as much as you can. We will send you a pack full of tips and sponsorship forms and will be on hand to offer advice and answer any of your queries.

How we will support you

In return for pledging to raise money for us we will support you by providing you with:

A fundraising pack crammed with fundraising ideas
A complimentary Sands running vest or T-Shirt
Fundraising materials to help you including posters, balloons and collection tins

How to enter

Sands does not have any guarenteed places for this event but you can register online for you own place.

If you've deferred an entry from the 2009 race, please do consider using it to run for Sands. We support all our runners in the same way.

Why raise money for Sands?

17 babies a day are stillborn or die within the first 4 weeks of their young lives - that's over 6,200 babies every year in the UK.

1 in every 200 babies born in the UK is stillborn.

1 in every 300 babies born in the UK dies in the first 4 weeks of life.

1 baby every 84 minutes is stillborn or dies within the first 4 weeks of life.

Everyone has their own special reason for taking part in an event like this. Whatever yours is please join the Sands Team and help us to continue to support families when their baby dies and to promote research to help reduce the loss of these babies lives.
