Little Soul
Little Soul – A song about experiencing miscarriage and is being donated to miscarriage charities around the globe
Miscarriage is constantly linked to the pain of a woman losing her unborn, yet rarely is thought to have any effect on the male, the father-to-be no longer. Having fatherhood taken away from Tom was a nightmare come true, and this nightmare has been brought to light through the heartfelt words of Little Soul.
Little Soul was written by Tom as his means of coping with the pain and emotions and was only later recorded when he was able to sing it for purely personal reasons and not to be part of the Oswald catalogue. With this in mind, Tom has donated the song to global miscarriage and child loss charities: allowing the charity to use the song on their website as well as encouraging fans to donate money to the charity when downloading the track.
Little Soul touches everyone who hears and everyone who listens. Written from the depth of Toms emotions, from his very own experience, this song touches even those with few sentiments. A male interpretation of losing an unborn baby, a subject rarely discussed, rarely spoken about, an issue brushed under the carpet and kept behind closed doors. Tom takes this taboo subject and unleashes the pain and sadness of his own loss and shares it with the world.
This song was written a few hours after we found out. It took a while before I could sing it right through in public but it has given me a good vent of how I feel - I just hope the song gives some release for others and helps raise awareness of an otherwise sidelined subject.
The Band
Oswald are a unique indie band, are here and ready for their UK launch.
Tom, the lead vocalist of Oswald, is known for producing songs with a true voice to worldly issues and he has been back in the studio writing new material that reflects his unique 360 degree view on the world, in true Oswald style.
Most would agree that Tom’s lyrics and music makes a difference; and those that voted in the US chart organisation , Musicgram agree giving them two number 1’s and a number 3 at the same time. Muisgram themselves said "Sometimes a band comes along and writes a song that makes you want to stand up …”
Little Soul
I remember the day when I heard you were on your way
tears of joy as we hugged and planned your life on earth
for weeks now we have loved you, never let you out of our thoughts
although you never knew us we needed you a lot
Little soul with a face I’ve never known
Little soul how I wish that you had grown
Little lost soul try to find your way back home
Little soul goodbye
Im so glad now you weren’t a secret that we shared you for a while
You put smiles upon the faces of those we love
If you’re out there I hope you hear me and know that I’m your dad
And if you don’t mind could you blow a kiss to your mum
Little soul with a face I’ve never known
Little soul how I wish that you had grown
Little lost soul try to find your way back home
Little soul goodbye
I want to thank you for all you’ve done, the way you made her smile
Forever I will see her in a way that I never have
I only hope now you can guide her and help her through the dark
When she dreams now can you drop by and help to mend her heart
Little soul with a face I’ve never known
Little soul how I wish that you had grown
Little lost soul try to find your way back home
My little soul goodbye
