Sands produces new Audit Tool, the first of its kind for maternity services in the UK, to help in assessment of quality of care and potential improvements needed. Download the Audit Tool here.

Revised NICE statement clarifies that parents should be offered a choice about whether or not they want to see and hold their stillborn baby. Read the full details.
BBC’s ‘File on 4’ interview Sands spokespeople over growing concern that baby deaths are not being properly investigated.
In an attempt to discover why so many apparently perfectly normal babies die, Sands calls for improved care in hospital labour wards and an increase in research efforts to discover what went wrong. Listen to the File on 4 investigation.
New Sands survey into bereavement care reveal worrying disparities between UK maternity units.
In around 20% of the units that responded, care is still poorly resourced and organised, and in others it is patchy. Sands calls for those commissioning bereavement support services to review these services and make any necessary improvements. Read more.
